Aside from a really cool design of mine being rejected this week, starting to get bored with woot again. Crap. Gotta find some more motivation somewhere. They’ve just dashed my goal of getting an HM every week too.

Another crazy theme, but not a lot of time to really get into it. Went with two variations on Ghost In The Shell.

    This week’s theme is Circus.

I’m a little bummed after last week’s drama, but I wanted to sub something anyway. Stuffing clowns inside a lion is fun.

Speaking of last week, which I forgot to post, the design came in fourth. Missed it by 8 votes.

Oops.  Almost forgot to post this one.  Theme of the week was exercise.  I wanted the treadmill entry to do well but it clearly did not have the kawaii power of the fox.

Last week’s bloodthirsty bunny shirt came in first with a print!  Thanks to all for the support!

If you missed the initial sale, you can still pick one up here: http://shirt.woot.com/Friends.aspx?k=8143

The theme “individuality” could not be more wrong for the woot derby.  As the weeks go by it has become more and more of a target market exercise instead of a design contest.  Not that there’s anything wrong with this.  These cutesy animal shirts are more fun than the shirts sold at Baby Gap, Babies R Us, or any number of baby, toddlers, or children’s retailers.  I know if I was a youngin, this trend would totally rock.  It beats the traditional girly wardrobe I had as a kid.  Not that I don’t appreciate the cute now, but being pigeon-holed into designing the same cute every week gets old.  If anything I suppose it’s a challenge, like designing for an employer or client you don’t particularly like.  That’s okay!  Challenges are good.

    This week’s entries!:

Last week was Woot’s now-quarterly Big-Do-Over derby.  I had one entry which did not fare well, as was expected.  It’s doubtful that it will get an editor’s pick either.  This week is heartbreak-themed, which means plenty of kawaii, sappy entries.  I have two up.  The one with lightning was a collab with elwayman02.

    While I’m here…

I was on a roll and decided to sub two more designs.

SWIM - Threadless T-shirts, Nude No MoreHeroes Go Pew Pew - Threadless T-shirts, Nude No More

Right now the plan is to sub my old woot designs that are mildly appropriate for the Threadless crowd, and go from there. Even just testing the waters with the designs I’ve submitted has given me good ideas for revamping those pieces.

Oops. Forgot to post these before voting closed. It’s been a really long week, of which the moral of the story was to never, ever volunteer to collaborate with students ever again - especially female students. Lol… Anyway! Two entries and a spinoff this week.

The spinoff was subbed on request and actually scored higher than the original. Apparently the invisible penguin was a winner.

Two new designs up for voting at Threadless! Trying to test the waters to get my creative juices going. Woot voters like to drain them all. :D

2W Takeover - Threadless T-shirts, Nude No More
Kawaiinomicon - Threadless T-shirts, Nude No More
